How it works.

The Dermapen skin needling process uses tiny and very fine medical needles to gently puncture the skin’s surface layer. A process that stimulates the body's natural 'wound healing' response and production of collagen and elastin, without any damage to the skin itself and which in turn helps tighten and restore the skins elasticity.

  • What is skin needling / microneedling?

    Microneedling is a sought-after skin renewal procedure that visibly improves a wide range of concerns. Micro-fine needles are adjusted to different depths and speeds to create fractional puncture channels on the surface of the skin. Unlike injectable treatments, microneedling is an entirely natural process that stimulates the body’s own repair and renewal function to create collagen and elastin.


    These micro-channels also carry the serum that’s chosen to help correct your specific skin concern and applied to the skin during the needling, deep into the skin, increasing its effectiveness and delivering nourishing nutrients. 

  • Does Dermapen microneedling hurt?

    Traditional dermal-rolling techniques proved to be bloody and painful, requiring the application of topical anaesthetic cream (TLA) before treatments.


    Today, with Dermapen 4, there’s no comparison. It’s the most comfortable, virtually pain-free microneedling treatment available. There’s no need for any TLA. Just lay back and enjoy stunning results.


    We can apply a numbing cream should you opt for this! We will just need to allow extra time for this to set in.

  • Does it matter which products are used when microneedling?

  • What are the protocols?

    Dermapen World has proven protocols that are highly sought-after in the microneedling community and are exclusively available to us an Authorised Treatment Provider. We follow step-by-step guides to get you outstanding results during a clinical procedure and at home.


    We will advise you on using a Dermapen HOME™ device and a specially curated Dp Dermaceuticals skincare routine between visits for accelerated and long-lasting results.

  • What products should I use with microneedling for the best results?

    We’ve taken the hassle out of endless Internet searches for the right combination of products for your skin. Dp Dermaceuticals is the world’s first Meso-Infusion skincare range exclusively designed for microneedling procedures.


    The skincare range is designed for:

    • Homecare use before a procedure to prime and condition skin
    • During microneedling procedures as Meso-Glide treatment mediums
    • After procedures to soothe and help reduce redness and inflammation
    • Ongoing to help reduce the signs of ageing and other skin concerns
    • The result is visibly refined, resurfaced, and rejuvenated skin.

  • BEFORE your skin needling treatment

    What you need to do


    Book a nurse led skin consultation ($45 which is redeemable on product or treatment received on the day)

    Coming in to speak with one of our nurse skin specialists will give you the best possible education and treatment plan needed to reach your desired skin goals.


    To get optimal results and work alongside best practice guidelines it is important that your skin is prepped correctly prior to your skin needling treatment. Prepping the skin correctly will result in better results and faster healing.


    This will include going on Retinal Active for a minimum of 4 weeks before your first micro needling treatment. This ensures your skin is in a strong and healthy state prior to treatment.

  • AFTER your skin needling treatment

    Do not touch or do anything to your skin until the following day– After your Micro Needling procedure, the skin channels are open and vulnerable to bacteria, so special care must be taken to protect your skin to ensure you achieve optimum results.


    If you are using the Dp Dermaceuticals™ skincare range there is zero downtime needed with your skincare regime, as all our products have been formulated to safely treat a skin undergoing micro needling. – You can continue with your skincare regime as normal.


    It is recommended to be on the Dp Dermaceuticals™ skincare range while undergoing your micro needling treatment. If you are using any other skincare range we ask for a three day stand down period of these products. This is because, generally, these products are not formulated to treat a skin undergoing micro needling treatment and will most likely sting your skin. Dp Dermaceuticals™ is the only skincare range available that is specifically designed and engineered to complement the skin undergoing a Dermapen® Skin Needling treatment.


    Because of this we ask you purchase the $10 “at home pack” which will have a sample size of Tri Phase Cleanser, Vitamin Rich Repair and Cover Recover. This product will last you the three day stand down period (if not more). Once the three days are over you can then incorporate your regular skincare regime back into your routine.


    It is recommended that make-up is not to be worn for 24-48 hours post needling treatment. We understand this can be challenging. Cover Recover is a SPF-30 tinted moisturiser which is applied after your needling treatment to provide coverage, superior cooling, moisturising and healing properties. This SPF 30 Tinted Coverage aids in recovery post-procedure and can be used as an everyday SPF 30 tinted moisturiser as your foundation replacement.


    Direct sun exposure needs to be avoided if possible for the next 24 hours. After that, diligent sun protection and precautions need to be taken. Avoid sweating, pools, and other extreme heat situations such as saunas for the next 24-48 hours.

  • DOWNTIME

    Zero down time is needed thanks to our Dp Dermaceutical™ product range. Our products reduce the post inflammatory redness significantly, making it possible to return to normal life straight after your micro needling procedure is done.


    Vitamin Rich Repair and Cover Recover will be applied onto your skin after your micro needling treatment. Together this products specifically reduce redness, heal the skin and aid in sun protection.


    Your skin may appear slightly red or tender to touch for the next day or two.  Because of this we recommend not to have needling treatments done prior to a big event.
